Create a cleaning solution by combining equal parts white vinegar and hot water. After dusting away cobwebs and dirt, use a sponge and squeegee to get your windows gleamingly clean.

2. Basements and Attics– Spring is the perfect time of year for cleaning drafty basements and attics that chilly winter temps and oppressive summer heat deter you from undertaking. Are toys and sporting equipment, that your children have outgrown or no longer use, taking up valuable space in your attic or basement? If so, donate or consign the unwanted items. Attics and basements often serve as catch-alls, but by evaluating your needs and priorities you can reclaim your valuable storage space.

3. Garages– De-cluttering your garage doesn’t have to be daunting. Begin by sorting your items into three piles- keep, discard and donate. Once you’ve determined the items you are keeping, invest in storage solutions designed specifically for garages. To keep items off the floor and within reach, remember to think vertical when it comes to garage storage. Be sure to winterize your snowblower prior to storing it and tune up your lawn mower.

4. Closets- Trading your winter wardrobe for your spring and summer staples? Now is a perfect time to take inventory of your clothes and donate or consign any items you no longer wear. Are there items you haven’t donned all winter? Don’t waste space storing clothes that no longer suit your personal style or your lifestyle. Making space will ensure your favorite pieces are visible and within reach, and will speed up getting ready in the morning.
